Bandai Namco announced that Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve has achieved a flattering sales milestone.
The game has sold one million copies in about a week since launch, which makes it the fastest ever in the franchise to reach the milestone.
Considering that it ultimately belongs to a genre that is more niche than the usual shooter, this is certainly a great result, and this is only the beginning.
The previous game of the series, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, has also broken all sales records for the series by shipping over 7 million units, following a long time in which the franchise remained dormant, causing many to fear for its survival.

Incidentally, Bandai Namco also announced that an update is coming, including fixes for some of the issues reported by players and gameplay adjustments. Release date and specific content will be announced at a later date.
The developers have also identified issues with the online matchmaking. Apparently, one of the causes of that issue is having a PC that doesn’t meet the system requirements, for instance, an operating system that isn’t Windows 11 or an installation on an HDD instead of an SSD.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
