Take-Two Interactive Software announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, related to the period betweenì January and march 2026, also offering the usual update on the mindboggling sales of GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, on top of a confirmation of the release date of GTA6.
According to the press release, Net Bookings (which you can approximately identify with sales) were $1.58 billion, essentially flat year-on-year.
Net bookings for the whole fiscal year were $6.72 billion, up 19% year-on-year. Both figures were above predictions.
Net Bookings from recurrent consumer spending (DLC and subscriptions) grew 7% year-on-year and accounted for 82% of total Net Bookings.
The company actually turned a net loss during the quarter, specifically $59.5 million, which was certainly better compared to the $3,726.2 milions of net loss in the same quarter of the previous year.
That being said, Take-Two expects net bookings for the current fiscal year to be considerably up, between $8.0 to $8.2 billion, surely mostly due to Grand Theft Auto 6, the release date of which has been confirmed for November 19, 2026, with a marketing campaign starting this summer.
We also get the usual statement from Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two, who talked about GTA6 and more.
“Our Fiscal 2026 performance was exceptional and exceeded our initial expectations at every label. We believe Fiscal 2027 will establish new record levels of operating performance driven by the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, along with strong execution across our portfolio. We expect to sustain this higher level of scale, generate strong cash flows, and deliver long-term shareholder value as we release our robust development pipeline, continue to optimize our live services and capitalize on new business opportunities.”
Take-Two also shared the total lifetime sales of its most successful games, with GTA5 outperforming sales expectations during the quarter. It has now shipped almost 230 million copies.
The Grand Theft Auto franchise has now shipped over 470 million units.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has now passed 85 million units shipped. The franchise as a whole has passed 115 million units.
Other gaming companies have already announced their financial results this quarter, including Koei Tecmo, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Konami, Shift Up, Sega, Capcom, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix. Y
