Today, the developers of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve provided an extensive look at the gameplay of the upcoming flight shooting game (or flight simulator-lite, as we prefer to call it here).
We get to take a look at three distinct missions, starting with one in which we also see the preparation of our wing. This time around, we get to choose aircraft and weapons for all of our wingmen, not just for ourselves.
We even see some really spectacular flying into a tunnel. This is certainly Ace Combat.
The second mission showcased is against the landship that was shown in previous Ace Combat 8 trailers, while the third is against the massive transport aircraft.
You can watch the gameplay below. It’s at the beginning of the second part of the event. We also added Part 1 under Part 2. It’s mostly chatting about the game in Japanese, but if you’re interested, it’s there.
Yet, that’s not all, as we get a look at the new port of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, which is provided as a bonus for pre-orders.
It’ll run at 4K, 60 FPS, and you can check it out below.
From the Western arm of Bandai Namco, we also get a trailer showing off the history of Strangereal, the fictional world in which the series is based.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will release on October 2, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, following the announcement from a few months ago. If you want to see more, you can check out a developer diary, an action-packed trailer, an extensive gameplay reveal, and the characters.
It’s the latest installment of the popular Ace Combat franchise, which culminated a few years ago with Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, that has broken all sales records for the series by shipping over 7 million units, after a period in which it remained dormant.
