SCS Software announced another feature that will be included in update 1.60 of both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, on top of the tease of DLC for ATS.
The new feature is an expanded rest mechanic, allowing players to control how much they rest and when they’ll wake up.
The Fatigue system will be split into two values: Rest State and Mandatory Break. The Rest State gradually depletes over time. Resting will help it recover faster.
When Rest State becomes critically low, you’ll get a warning, and you’ll be affected by microsleep events when you run out.
The Mandatory Break system indicates how many hours you have before you require a legally required rest stop.
In American Truck Simulator, you can keep driving for up to 14 hours before you must take a mandatory break of at least 10 hours. In Euro Truck Simulator 2, you can drive for up to 10 hours before requiring 9 consecutive hours of rest.
The systems are optional and can be toggled on and off independently.
This adds to previously revealed features, including the Job Detail Widget and the improved materials system.

We also get a tease for another new DLC for American Truck Simulator, as you can see in the video below.
All signs point to Indiana, and we learn that the DLC is still in the early stages of development.
If you’re unfamiliar with Euro Truck Simulator 2, it’s a truck-driving simulator available for PC, but PS5 and Xbox versions have been recently announced.
The Iceland DLC was revealed a few months ago, and you can enjoy additional screenshots, in addition to its churches, the Ring Road, the coastlines, Keflavík, and the fjords.
Further national DLCs announced focus on Ireland (of which we just saw a few screenshots) and on Turkey.
The development team is also hard at work updating relevant areas of the map, and the next rework focuses on the UK, including the Stonehenge area.
Last, but not least, there’s the Coaches DLC, and we recently saw its bus stations, the Scania Touring, passenger satisfaction, the MAN Lion’s Coach, and the Volvo 9700 Double Decker.
American Truck Simulator is available for PC, and it’s the sister game to Euro Truck Simulator 2. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are also coming.
South Dakota is likely the next DLC, and we already saw its Truck Stops, countryside, towns, cities, more Truck Stops, the road network, more settlements, even more towns, and Hot Springs.
The game will soon cross the borders of the United States and go to Canada with the British Columbia DLC.
Another big project is the Road Trip feature, spearheaded by the Ford Car Pack (of which we also saw the Ford Crown Victoria, the Ford F-150, the Ford Mustang Fastback, and the Ford Bronco Badlands) and the Ram & Dodge Car Pack with the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody, which will expand the simulator’s experience from trucks to cars and pickup trucks, including pure exploration and the delivery of smaller packages.
