Bandai Namco announced that Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War will soon be made into a standalone app that you can launch directly from the Steam Client.
This was already the case for those who acquired it as a pre-order bonus for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. On the other hand, the PC version did not have its standalone app, but it simply allowed you to launch AC0 from within AC8.
Final quality assurance and compatibility testing is ongoing, and a release date will be revealed down the line.
It’s worth mentioning that even after the separate app launches, you’ll still be able to launch the beloved game from within Ace Combat 8, and save data will be shared between the two versions.
Another relevant element is that the pre-order bonus will remain the only way to acquire Ace Combat Zero for PC, so if you did not get it, you’re out of luck for now.
If you’re not familiar with Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, it was launched in 2006 for PlayStation 2. It’s considered by many one of the best chapters of the franchise, and it sports an absolutely monumental soundtrack.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is the fastest in the series to have reached 1 million copies sold.
