Today, Nintendo shared an overview trailer for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, which releases later this week on the Switch 2. The trailer contained seven and a half minutes of game footage and story explanations that prepare players for what they will encounter.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is set in the crumbling Dagden Empire as it faces destruction from the revived demon god Balor. Players will be able to choose between confronting Balor directly or using Fortuna’s time-traveling powers to go back years and recruit four heroes. They can recruit Kai, who is determined to save his imprisoned father; Dietrich, who is set out to find a worthy opponent; Theodora, who is dedicated to defending her kingdom; and Lida, who is out to avenge her father’s murder. Each of these four heroes’ paths unfolds through the Heroic Games tournament in the capital.
The turn-based combat in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is built around six weapon types, which include swords, bows, and magic. Each of these weapons has modifiable combat stats balanced against durability loss. Blaze Arts are powerful special attacks that grant effects like area damage or teleportation. There are classes such as Diviners, Wing Soldiers, and Elephant Riders, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Outside of battle, players can explore the city and surrounding continent to train their heroes. There are things to do such as training at the Arena Plaza, attending certification exams, gaining blessings through Temple Volunteering, and recruiting new warriors. The overworld has additional combat, treasure, and material collection for even more training options.
Also, unlike in Three Houses, players can switch between the four heroes at any point to progress all four storylines simultaneously.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave releases this week on September 17. It will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2.
