Today, Koei Tecmo announced its financial results for the full fiscal year 2025, related to the period between April 2025 and March 2026.
According to the documents provided by the company, not only were the results better than the previous year, but sales, ordinary profit, and net profit achieved a record high for Koei Tecmo.
Sales were 88,393 million yen, up 6.3% year-on-year. Operating profit was 37,168 million yen, up 15.7% year-on-year.
If we look at the Entertainment Business alone, which includes video games, sales were 82,541 million yen, up 5.72% year-on-year. Operating profit was 36,642 million yen, up 16.4%.
Console and PC games were the main drivers due to the release of 14 new games, including major ones. Mobile games declined, although new ones did contribute to sales.
We also get the initial earnings forecast for the current fiscal year, ending in March 2026. Koei Tecmo expects to do better in terms of sales, reaching 90,000 million yen, but worse in terms of operating profit, at 32,000 million yen.
The expectation for the Entertainment Business on its own is 83,700 million yen in sales and 31,600 million yen in operating profits.
We also learn that Pokémon Pokopia shipped 2.2 million units in four days, while Nioh 3 shipped 1 million units, and it’s the fastest-selling of the series, which has reached 10 million units shipped cumulatively. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has also passed 1 million units.
The company is aiming to strengthen its global sales system with the following short-term goals.
- Strengthening the in-house publishing system overseas
- Expansion of fan community
- Maximize product lifetime sales
- Promoting research in emerging markets such as Southeast Asia and India
The following are longer-term goals.
- Increasing awareness of corporate, brands, and titles in the global, European and American markets
- A system capable of publishing large titles inhouse
- Early entry into emerging markets
Another aim is to expand the scope of IP utilization and the scale of revenue with the following short-term goals.
- Increasing awareness and expanding sales channels in Europe and the United States
- Maximizing IP value and utilizing past assets
- Expansion of product development
As for the long-term goals, they’re as follows.
- Strategic IP utilization, including multimedia development
- Establish IP utilization as a business and grow the scale of profits.
To that end, Koei Tecmo is implementing structural changes aimed at promoting and strengthening global business development, including the renaming of the IP Division to Global IP Division and the renaming of the Marketing Division to the Global Marketing Division.
The company also intends to promote operational efficiency by using AI, with the following use cases.
