Sega announced its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year, related to the period between April and September 2026.
According to the official documents, sales for the full company were 212.5 billion yen, up 5.67% year-on-year.
Operating Income was 14.2 billion yen, up 42.00% year-on-year.
Looking at the Consumer segment of the Entertainment Content business, which is video games, sales were 90.3 billion yen, down 9.70% year-on-year.
Operating Income was 1.6 billion yen, down 83.51% year-on-year.
That being said, Sega claims these results are above expectations, with the exclusion of free-to-play games, which performed slightly below expectations.
Catalogue sales of full games (meaning games released in the previous fiscal year) were solid, while sales of DLC and revenue from subscription platforms were above expectations.
That being said, Sega is expecting things to pretty much reverse in the second part of the fiscal year thanks to the release of major games like Football Manager 27, Stranger than Heaven, and Persona 4 Revival.
Sales of video games for the full year are expected to be 246.0 billion yen (up 11.87% year-on-year), and operating income is expected to be 30.0 billion yen, with a rather large 56.25% growth year-on-year.
It’s worth mentioning that the forecast has not changed since its announcement three months ago.
