Today, Marvelous Entertainment announced its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year, related to the period between April and September 2026.

For the whole company, net sales were 14,047million yen, down 30.74% year-on-year.

Operating profit was 2,724 million yen, considerably above the meager 226 million yen recorded the previous year.

For the Digital Content business, which includes video games, net sales were 6,616 million yen, down 46.71% year-on-year.

Yet, the segment returned to profitability, with 1,329 million yen in income, compared to the loss of 1,070 million yen in the first half of the previous fiscal year.

Perhaps more interesting than the numbers are some of the comments made during the presentation by CEO Shinichi Terui.

Terui-san talked about the upcoming free-to-play Senran Kagura game, Shinobi Nexus: Senran Kagura, mentioning that pre-registrations are above the company’s expectations and attributing it to everyone’s high anticipation for the Senran Kagura series.

It’s certainly interesting to see Marvelous finally acknowledge the value of the Senran Kagura IP officially after years of semi-limbo, and it certainly makes the previous hint of a return to consoles made during the previous quarter very intriguing.

Terui-san also mentioned that Muramasa: Revenant Blades is also highly anticipated by its deeply rooted fanbase, while the new IP Eternal Anima has received a favorable reaction, especially among JRPG fans in the West

Speaking of games already released, Terui-san also praised the strong performance of Moonlight Peaks, which is published by Marvelous’ North American arm Xseed Games, while Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar also contributed significantly to revenue.

Incidentally, since we’re talking about Shinobi Nexus: Senran Kagura, a trailer has just published today, introducing the brand-new character Touka.

Other gaming companies have already announced their financial results this quarter, including Koei Tecmo, Capcom, Microsoft, and Konami. You can expect plenty more reports on this topic in the coming days and weeks.
