Knights Peak and Windup Games have shared a new deep dive into the story of Hela: of Mice & Magic, which releases next month. Furthermore, the team announced that the game will support cross-play at launch.
The story of Hela: of Mice & Magic involves a kind-hearted witch who has kept the land in harmony for centuries until the world begins to fall out of tune. She is too ill and weak to set things right herself, so she turns to her mouse familiars for help.
As players take on the role of the mice, they discover the lives and stories of the land’s people. They’ll lend a helping hand to those in need, befriend the creatures of the forest, and encounter the mysterious Ritual Keeper to learn about the land’s past and its ancient magic. When players return home, the witch shares stories of her own, and through her memories, even the smallest of discoveries turn into part of a much greater story.
Hela is more than the witch’s story, though; it becomes the player’s story too, through the paths that are followed, the people who are helped, and the small moments in between. The journey is full of challenges, discoveries, acts of kindness, and opportunities to follow curiosity.
The world can be explored at the player’s own pace, either alone or with friends. If you don’t want to adventure solo, Hela can be played with a friend in local split-screen, or with up to four players in online co-op. Full cross-play support will be available at launch, so players on different consoles can still adventure together.

In addition to the regular version of the game, a special Hela: of Mice & Magic Harmony Edition will be available for players. This collector edition includes the physical game in a carton box, a two-sided poster including a map, a sticker sheet, a 48-page softcover artbook “The Heart of Hela,” and the digital soundtrack. This edition costs $40 USD and can be found at retailers using this link.
