Nintendo has announced its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year, related to the period between April and September 2026, alongside new official sales figures for the Nintendo Switch 2 and more.

According to the new data provided by the company, lifetime hardware sales for the Switch 2 are now at 26.35 million units, which means that 2.67 million units have been shipped during Q2.

This is very close to the 2.6 million units shipped by Nintendo’s main rival in the same period, Sony’s PS5.

Software lifetime shipments for the Switch 2 are at 73.21 million units.

Net sales for the six months were 966 billion yen, down 12.1% year-on-year, while operating profit was 216.5 billion yen, up 49.1% year-on-year.

The decline in sales is mostly due to a 37.4% drop in sales year-on-year for the Switch 2 and 32.7% drop for the original Switch (which keeps chugging along with respectable sales, mind you), partly offset by growth in software sales.

Digital sales are now 60.7 of the total for Nintendo.

On the software side, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream sold 8.81 million units, Rhythm Heaven Groove sold 2.89 million units, and Splatoon Raiders sold 2.42 million units.

Mario Kart World keeps selling well despite its age and sold 1.78 million units, reaching 16.48 million units in its lifetime.

The financial forecast for the full fiscal year remains unchanged from the previous quarter. Nintendo still expects to ship 16.5 million units of the Switch 2, which would bring the total to 36.36 million units, if achieved.

If you’d like to compare with historical data, you can check out Sony’s financial results from the previous quarter, announced in August.

Other gaming companies have already announced their financial results this quarter, including Koei Tecmo, Capcom, Microsoft, Konami, Marvelous, and Sony. You can expect plenty more reports on this topic in the coming days and weeks.
