Nintendo has announced its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year, related to the period between April and June 2026, alongside new official sales figures for the Nintendo Switch 2 and more.

Specifically, according to the official documents provided by the company, the Switch 2’s lifetime shipments are now at 23.68 million units, which means the console has shipped 3.82 million units during Q1. This is over double the quantity compared to its closest rival, Sony’s PS5.

Software lifetime shipments for the Switch 2 are at 58.17 million units.

Incidentally, the venerable Switch keeps selling, having moved a respectable 660,000 units during the quarter. Things are even better for its software, which sold 33.81 million units during the quarter, over three times more than Switch 2 games (not shocking, given the difference in installed base, but still relevant).

Net sales were 517.8 billion yen, down 9.5 year-on-year. Operating profit grew to 142.5 billion yen, up 150.5% year-on-year.

$300 million (about 47 billion yen) was refunds of US tariffs.

Hardware sales for the Switch 2 decreased by 34.4% year-on-year, which isn’t too surprising since the comparison is against the console’s release quarter. Switch Sales decreased by 31.8% year-on-year.

Software sales for the Switch 2 grew by 9.2%, while software sales for the old dear Switch grew by a whopping 38.6%.

In terms of specific games, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream shipped 7.94 million units, and Pokémon Pokopia shipped 1.27 million units.

Nintendo did not change its forecasts for the full fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2027. The company expects to ship 16.5 million units of the Switch 2, which would bring the total to 36.36 million units, if achieved.

If you’d like to compare with historical data, you can check out Nintendo’s financial results from the previous quarter, announced in May.

Other gaming companies have already announced their financial results this quarter, including Koei Tecmo, Capcom, Microsoft, Konami, Sony, and Bandai Namco. You can expect plenty more reports on this topic in the coming days and weeks.
