SCS Software has released the 1.60 Open Beta for Euro Truck Simulator 2, introducing a plethora of features and improvements, like the Game Radio, improved material system, lighting adjustments, an expanded resting mechanic, and more.
To kick things off, Euro Truck Simulator 2 players will be able to play a variety of music with the new Game Radio. The in-game radio system has six different stations that have their own musical identities:
- Escape
- PUMP IT!
- Pop Gear
- Roadio
- Rust FM
At the start, Escape will be the only station that’s safe to stream,
The Game Radio also has its own widget that displays station information, track titles, and artist names. Players can adjust the widget in the Widget Options menu, too.

One of the already-announced features that’s part of the 1.60 Open Beta for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is the improved material system. This improves how the lighting and visuals look inside vehicles by changing how materials react to light.
Even in lower light areas, materials will look more realistic and like what they are, including leather, fabric, plastic, and metal.
The enhanced material system is starting with a few trucks and expanding in the future. To start with, the DAF NGD and MAN TG3 TGX trucks will be updated.

Lighting changes have also been made globally, too. This was mainly to smooth and improve the already great visuals in-game, especially in bad weather. Players can see a before and after (as well as an impressive shot).

While many of the 1.60 Open Beta features are the same in Euro Truck Simulator 2 as its sister game, American Truck Simulator, one that’s unique is the update to the Volvo FH Series 6 trucks.
This update includes new aerodynamic parts, like roof deflectors. There are also black A-Pillar trims for all Aero cabin variants.

Another previously announced feature is the job details widget. This widget shows players information about the job they’re currently doing, such as the estimated arrival time and date, cargo information, and remaining time and distance.
The job details widget will be customizable in the Widget Options menu, too.

Last but not least is the new expanded rest mechanic. This gives players a bit more control over how and when they rest. To start with, the Fatigue system has two parts: Rest State and Mandatory Break.
Rest State will gradually decrease as players drive for extended periods of time, and resting will restore it quickly.
Mandatory Break ensures that players aren’t driving for too long. They’ll only be able to drive for 10 hours before being required to take nine consecutive hours to rest.
