Game Science isn’t new to big reveals of its games completely out of the blue. They did it with Blak Myth: Wukong, and they’re doing it again with Black Myth: Zhong Kui.
Exactly a year after the original announcement, the Chinese studio released a massive 15-minute video showing both cutscenes and gameplay, with fluid transitions between the two.
We get to see some of the characters, including the main hero, and plenty of combat, both against normal enemies and against powerful bosses.
You can check it out below.
The game is still in early development, and footage is said to be captured from a work-in-progress build running at a 21:9 aspect ratio. Game Science cautions that the final release may differ.
Interestingly, the footage was accompanied by the following poem, although its significance remains mysterious.
“With blood beneath my blade, I paint new rouge upon my face,
An old friend visits, in a dream taking place.
Old faces, bygone deeds, have vanished from my sight,
Still, I remember every one, by day and through the night.
Those bound by love grow old; the righteous road runs long;
Today’s notes of grace or grudge define not the final song.
Who says the Underworld is far away?
All the better—once more I’ll walk along.”
At the moment, we understandably don’t have a release date besides the fact that it “won’t be quick.” Interestingly, the official website mentions that there will be a reveal every August 20, so it may be another year before we get to see more.
Specific platforms have not been announced besides PC and “Major consoles.”
