Today, Frontier Developments officially released its latest free update for its hit MMORPG, Elite Dangerous: Operations.
The Elite Dangerous: Operations update introduces a squad-based mission system for up to four players, along with six new multi-stage missions. Players can take part in cooperative combat both in space and on foot, with gameplay split between Mercenary and Powerplay modes.
Mercenary mode offers consequence-free missions, while Powerplay mode lets players contribute to faction objectives across the galaxy. Completing Operations missions grants Credits, Materials, and the new Merc Coin currency, which can be exchanged for ship modules and engineering blueprints.

The update also adds the Nomad, a compact ship-launched vehicle available through ARX Early Access. The Nomad features improved maneuverability, a Mk II Biological Scanner for detecting biological signals from the cockpit, and the ability to leave the cockpit to explore on foot.
The update is at no additional cost for owners of Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, but does require the base game to play. Additional operations and rewards are also planned in future updates, but no new information has been provided on the roadmap so far.
Elite Dangerous is a space trading and combat simulator available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The console versions have limited features and do not receive the latest expansions or updates.
Players command a spaceship in a realistic open-world Milky Way galaxy with roughly 400 billion star systems, many of them procedurally generated. The game supports planetary landings, alien and human settlements, and unique flora and fauna. Players can choose their own path, including exploration, combat, trading, mining, smuggling, or mercenary work.
Recently, the game added new ships, including the Lynx Highliner, each with unique passenger missions. For more information on Elite Dangerous: Operations and other space simulators, like No Man’s Sky, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
