Today, Bandai Namco officially revealed Code Vein 2: Mask of Idris, the first expansion for its action RPG, which is set to launch later this summer.
Code Vein 2: Mask of Idris expands the post-game story in the Forsaken World, a fractured dimension shaped by converging timelines and lost histories. The expansion adds new story missions in which you explore unstable realities shaped by a powerful emotional force that draws in echoes from different eras.
A new character, Liv Voda, is also being introduced and is set to play a key role in the plot. Since the expansion is post-game content, it will require players to have completed the “Luna Fraterna” ending of the main game, as well as the sub-mission “Valentin’s request,” in order to play.

Alongside the announcement of Code Vein 2: Mask of Idris, Bandai Namco is releasing Free Update Version 2.0, which includes additional post-game content and improvements to partner-related exploration. Further details will be announced at a later date, but it is set to launch alongside Code Vein 2: Mask of Idris sometime in July or August this year.
For those who may not have heard of Code Vein 2, it’s an action-RPG that takes players on an epic journey featuring time travel, unique bosses, and a dynamic Partner System.
You’ll step into the role of a Revenant Hunter who is revived by a Revenant girl, Lou MagMell, using her own heart, who wields the power to travel through time. Together, you embark on a mission to rewrite history and save the world and recruit companions, like Noah G. MagMell, Josée Anjou, and Valentin Voda, to help prevent the cataclysmic event known as the Resurgence.
The game features a combat system centered on absorbing blood from enemies to unlock abilities, customizable builds via Blood Codes, and weapon types called Jails. Another integral gameplay element is the Partner System, which lets players switch between combat forms.
Code Vein 2 is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. For more information on this and future roadmap content and announcements, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
