SCS Software released new screenshots, footage, and details from the upcoming Illinois DLC for American Truck Simulator, focusing on Chicago.
According to the official post, the developers did their best to recreate the city’s skyline as accurately as possible in terms of scale, space, and optimization.
Districts like the Chicago Loop, parts of Streeterville, and the Near South Side have been recreated, while the Navy Pier had to be represented creatively to fit in the sim’s scale. Yet, they’re still recognizable.
The Chicago ‘L’ rapid transit system has also been updated with a brand-new train model.
We’ll also find the underground Lower Wacker Drive as a fast-moving route through the city.
There is a wide variety of industries and delivery opportunities, including O’Hare International Airport. You can transport goods to and from a cargo warehouse, unload at a custom fuel depot, and even deliver directly to a cargo aircraft on the apron.
Further depots include an intermodal yard, a car factory, and a custom car export depot, on top of a construction site, the marina, a food processing facility, a heavy machinery service, and a chemical oil industry.
Another custom depot is the iconic Thornton Quarry.
Landmarks include Buckingham Fountain, the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, Soldier Field, the Chicago Children’s Museum, the Centennial Wheel, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Bridge, and the William P. Fahey Bridge.
For those who own the Special Transport DLC, the following routes will be available.
Owners of the Special Transport DLC for American Truck Simulator will find contracts on offer between the following cities:

American Truck Simulator is available for PC, and it’s the sister game to Euro Truck Simulator 2. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are also coming. American Truck Simulator Version 1.59 for PC has just been launched.
Illinois is the next DLC coming for the simulator on May 14, 2026. You can check out its truck stops, the city of Marion, Rockford, Quincy, even more truck stops, Moline, Peoria, Champaign, the prairies, Bloomington, water bodies, more settlements, the Murals, East St. Louis, and the custom depots. You can also take a look at the first extensive gameplay showcase and the second.
South Dakota should come afterward, and we already saw its Truck Stops, countryside, towns, cities, more Truck Stops, the road network, more settlements, and even more towns.
The game will soon cross the borders of the United States and go to Canada with the British Columbia DLC.
Another big project is the Road Trip feature, spearheaded by the Ford Car Pack (of which we also saw the Ford Crown Victoria, the Ford F-150, the Ford Mustang Fastback), and the Ford Bronco Badlands, which will expand the simulator’s experience from trucks to cars and pickup trucks, including pure exploration and the delivery of smaller packages.
