The developers of House Flipper 2, Frozen District, have begun a devlog series for the game’s upcoming Pets DLC in order to showcase what’s been happening behind the scenes. The first devlog demonstrates how the team went from reference photos to fully animated dogs and cats.
Even though there’s still some polishing up to do, the development team shares that they are close to finishing the 3D models of the 40+ dog and cat breeds that will be included in the DLC. They emphasize that the pets will look much more advanced compared to the pets included in House Flipper 1, with a focus on details such as wrinkles and body proportions.
The process starts with the artists sculpting a specific breed after doing some research and then making a 3D model prototype. After a ton of shaping, iterating, and optimizing, the model starts to look more complete and recognizable as the breed. You can see what that looks like in the images below.

Frozen District also explains the animation process of the pets in the House Flipper 2 DLC. The designers and animators used a long list of behaviors for the animals, making sure that they weren’t just copied and pasted for each breed. They use the example of how dog breeds like Chihuahuas and German Shepherds have very different movements in real life, so they made sure to rig them uniquely in the game.
The video below shows exactly how the animation looks on a Rottweiler, along with some well-deserved petting of the good boy.
At the end of the devlog, the team asks the community to comment on what topic it wants to hear about for the second installment: behavioral trees or the new area environment.
Frozen District also states that they will be attending Gamescom 2026 next month in which they will be presenting the first demo for the Pets DLC and giving away merchandise.
Although there is no set date for the Pets DLC quite yet, you can read about the House Flipper 2 roadmap here.
In other House Flipper news, it was recently announced that the physical edition of the House Flipper Remastered Collection is coming to PS5 in October.
