Today, Funselektor and Strelka Games announced that Over the Hill, a 1-4 player off-road exploration game from the creators of Art of Rally, will launch on Steam on October 14, 2026. Console releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 are planned for 2027.
The announcement comes after a recent Steam demo that drew more than 500,000 players to its off-road trails. Over the Hill has also surpassed 1.2 million wishlists on Steam, according to the developers, placing it among the platform’s most anticipated indie releases of the year.
A new release date reveal trailer gives players another look at the game’s scenic wilderness and rugged vehicles. Over the Hill is built around exploration rather than simply reaching a destination, allowing players to travel through environments inspired by real-world locations while driving vehicles based on classic 4×4 overlanders from the 1960s through the 1980s.

Players can head into the wilderness alone or join up with as many as three other players. Trails can lead through forests, lakesides, and mountainous terrain, with obstacles requiring players to use tools such as planks and winches. Dynamic weather and changing day and night conditions can alter the landscape and add new challenges to each journey.
Exploration also extends beyond the road. Players can discover remote cabins, viewpoints, natural landmarks, meteorites and portals that open access to new areas. Wildlife can be photographed using an in-game camera, with discoveries added to a compendium.
Vehicles can be upgraded with equipment found throughout the world and customized at merchants and cabins. Players can also change colors, accessories, and other cosmetic details to create a vehicle suited to their style.
