Alongside the announcement, Panache released a new gameplay feature video that highlights the game’s core systems. The footage follows Noa and Aaron as they investigate the Originals throughout Amsterdam, showcasing combat, the day-and-night cycle, Noa’s abilities, and Aaron’s feline gameplay. Their complementary skills let players find clues, reach hidden areas, and discover secrets across the city.

1666: Amsterdam is a single-player action-adventure with investigation elements and a narrative focus. The nonlinear story spans three timelines as Noa begins her Commencement and takes on the role of the Collector. Players will solve a mystery that stretches across centuries and select a companion to join Noa on her journey.

A free playable prologue is now available on Steam and the Epic Games Store, lasting about 30 minutes and introducing the game’s world, characters, atmosphere, and central mystery, setting the stage for the full experience. Panache says that systems and progression will expand throughout early access, with player feedback allowing the development team to work with the community, and will help shape systems, pacing, balance, and future content as development continues.

Built with Unreal Engine 5, 1666: Amsterdam will initially be available on PC, with console versions planned for a later date. Steam Deck support is not currently planned for launch.

Panache Digital Games was founded in Montreal in 2014 by Patrice Désilets and Jean-François Boivin. Désilets is Creative Director on 1666: Amsterdam and previously led Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Assassin’s Creed. The project has been in development for over 16 years and follows the studio’s first title, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.

1666: Amsterdam is now available to wishlist on Steam and the Epic Games Store. For more information on this and other upcoming narrative titles, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
