Today, Brocap Studio confirmed a PC release date for Hubert, their adventure game about a working shepherd dog protecting his flock of sheep. Players will finally be able to experience Hubert’s adventure when the game launches on Steam on October 12.
In case you missed our previous coverage about the game, Hubert follows a dog of the same name who experiences his surroundings through smell, sound, and instinct. His closest companion is named Lily, a woman who rescues him from a storm early in the story. Their partnership takes them on the road and then to a farm, where Hubert is tasked with keeping his sheep in line. Players experience it entirely from Hubert’s point of view, through the open countryside, shifting weather conditions, and plenty of dangers along the way.
The story goes beyond the farm; gameplay footage teases a run-in with wolves, and the narrative hints at Hubert being called towards a mystery in the unexplored wilderness to the north. It seems that there’s something more sinister and dangerous waiting for the player beyond the cozy sheep herding.
Brocap Studio describes the game as a story about loyalty and courage, balancing emotional storytelling with herding mechanics. The developers set out to create an experience that is both cozy and adventurous.
Earlier this month, we shared that Hubert would also release on the PlayStation 5 in addition to PC via Steam, and we also took a close look at a story trailer that showcased some of the scenes and gameplay that players can expect. The PS5 release date is still unconfirmed, but it is also aiming to release in October, so the wait shouldn’t be too long for console players. Brocap Studio shared that the PS5 release date will be revealed in the coming weeks.
If you’re still undecided on whether or not to pick up Hubert when it releases for PC on October 12, you can watch both of the trailers below to see what it’s all about. Additionally, there is a demo available on Steam if you’d like to try out the game for yourself.
