Today, Gaijin Entertainment has announced War Thunder Eagle’s Shadow, the next major content update for War Thunder, is scheduled to arrive in mid-November.

War Thunder Eagle’s Shadow will introduce dozens of new military vehicles, weapons, and other additions, headlined by the F-15EX Eagle II, the latest evolution of the legendary American fighter jet. Naval forces will also receive new reinforcements, including the heavily armored Russian battleship Imperator Nikolai I, which is equipped with twelve 305 mm guns.

The F-15EX Eagle II will become the newest top-tier aircraft in the US and Israeli aviation fleets. Entering operational service with the US Air Force in 2024, the modernized fighter combines the flight performance and substantial weapons capacity of the original F-15 family with advanced technology, including an AESA radar and an upgraded electronic warfare suite.

War Thunder Eagle’s Shadow will introduce an impressive weapons loadout, becoming the first plane capable of carrying up to 12 active radar-homing air-to-air missiles or 20 guided bombs; it will also feature an extensive supply of flares and chaff through an additional countermeasure pod. Another notable aircraft arriving with Eagle’s Shadow is the Soviet Su-15TM, a Cold War-era interceptor capable of reaching speeds exceeding Mach 2.

The Soviet Su-15TM will become the earliest Soviet aircraft in War Thunder to feature medium-range air-to-air missiles, introducing the R-98MR semi-active radar-guided missile and the R-98MT infrared-guided missile. Its excellent climbing ability and strong vertical maneuverability should make it a formidable addition to the Soviet aviation lineup.

War Thunder Eagle’s Shadow will also introduce cluster bombs as an entirely new aircraft weapon category. Russian RBK-500 and American CBU-87/B cluster bombs will scatter multiple submunitions across designated target areas, giving pilots another option for attacking groups of ground vehicles and other concentrated targets.

Ground forces in Germany and Sweden will receive the Leopard 2A8, the latest major evolution of the Leopard 2 main battle tank family. Currently entering service across Europe, the Leopard 2A8 is the first mass-produced version of the tank to feature the Trophy hard-kill active protection system, which automatically detects and intercepts incoming anti-tank guided missiles.

The tank will also feature additional hull and side armor, an internal spall liner, third-generation thermal imaging equipment, and the powerful DM53 APFSDS ammunition. Sweden will receive a version configured for the Norwegian Army, giving both nations access to one of the game’s strongest top-tier tanks.

Gaijin Entertainment says additional information about the vehicles, weapons, and other features included in War Thunder: Eagle’s Shadow will be revealed over the coming weeks. For more info on this and other previous updates, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
