Today, Byteproduct announced their upcoming sci-fi shoot ’em up Sturmjäger, which is planned to be released early next year. The game combines classic arcade action with modern accessibility features, and it includes both single player and a couch co-op mode.
In Sturmjäger, players must battle through 10 different missions, each with its own visual theme and original soundtrack. The stages range from deep space to the bottom of the ocean, and every mission ends with an intense boss battle.
In the words of developer Byteproduct, “If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn’t move… maybe shoot it anyway.” There will be two main weapon systems, both of which can be upgraded deal massive amounts of damage.
Players will be able to choose between classic Arcade Mode, in which they must shoot through the stages in one continuous run, and Mission Mode, in which they can master individual stages to perfect their strategy. There will also be a Score Attack mode, in which players must optimize their path to rise up on the leaderboards with the most points. There will be online leaderboards for players to compete with others from around the world.
Both newcomers to the shoot ’em up genre and veterans alike will be able to enjoy Sturmjäger because it includes three difficulty levels, making it accessible to all. For experts, there is a deep, finely-tuned scoring system that rewards aggressive and flawless gameplay. Those who want a more casual experience can choose a lower difficulty setting, in which fast reflexes aren’t as important.

Sturmjäger will be released on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on January 14, 2027.
