Austin Wintory Shares The Music For Mass Effect Universe He Pitched to BioWare

Austin Wintory, the composer for games like Journey and Hades II, has shared some of the music that might have ended up in Mass Effect Universe, the now-canceled BioWare project.

Wintory explains that over the past couple of years, he had been in serious conversations with BioWare and EA to work on the project. Last year, he sent 20 minutes of fully recorded and produced music, with vocals and an orchestra included, to BioWare as concepts for the game. Although Wintory had not yet learned of any narrative details for Mass Effect Universe, he had some themes in mind, as the franchise is his personal favorite of all time.

Alas, Wintory received the news with the rest of us that BioWare would be shut down and Mass Effect Universe canceled, so the composer decided to release his musical ideas for the game so the world could hear it.

Below, you can listen to the eight pieces across 20 minutes of music that Austin Wintory had pitched to the development team.
