GSC Game World released Stalker 2 Update 2.1, adding two major community-requested features, plus bug fixes, visual improvements, and gameplay adjustments.

Stalker 2 Update 2.1 expands customization options for A-Life NPC visualization distances and adds a new fast-travel feature that lets players travel with friendly or neutral stalker squad leaders. The new A-Life visualization settings let players adjust how far away NPCs appear in the Zone, giving them more control over the experience based on personal preferences and hardware capabilities.

Players can find the options under Settings > Game> Visualization, with several presets, including a Dynamic option that automatically adjusts the range to suit their system. GSC Game World recommends the default preset for the best balance of performance, stability, and immersion, as increasing the visualization distance may affect both.

Stalker 2 Update 2.1 also includes behind-the-scenes improvements designed to make long-distance firefights feel more natural. Depending on the selected visualization preset, players can hear gunfights farther away, and weapon ballistics adjust to support the expanded distances.

It is important to note that A-Life NPCs operate separately from quest-related and scripted characters, meaning the increased visualization range primarily applies to A-Life NPCs to help maintain stability. Available presets may also vary between platforms. Stalker 2 Update 2.1 also adds fast travel with squad leaders and a compass that now identifies friendly and neutral squad-leading stalkers, letting players speak with them and discover nearby destinations along their routes.

This offers an alternative way to navigate the Zone without walking every stretch of the journey. The service comes at a cost, and players must ensure they don’t carry too much equipment before setting off with a guide.

Fast travel is limited to nearby locations that have already been explored, so squad leaders cannot transport players across the entire Zone. Alongside these features, Stalker 2 Update 2.1 introduces various bug fixes and visual tweaks.

GSC Game World described the release as almost entirely community-driven, with feedback from social media, forums, and player reviews shaping its additions. Earlier this year, a new DLC was released for the title, Stalker 2: Cost of Hope .

The expansion focuses on the conflict between Duty and Freedom and introduces new locations such as the Iron Forest, CNPP, and Spatial Bubble. For more information on this and other upcoming game news, check back to Simulation Daily for updates.
