The developers of MyWhoosh have announced a brand-new anti-doping testing program for virtual racers, a first-of-its-kind initiative to protect the virtual racers taking part in competitive events and make sure that said events are fair.
This anti-doping program is in partnership with the International Doping Tests and Management (IDTM), which provides testing services. Virtual players will be selected randomly or based on their podium finishes, performance, or intelligence-led targeting.
Players who are selected will be notified and will be required to stay at the testing site following a race, where they’ll be required to give a urine, dried blood spot, or venous blood sample. Players can be notified for testing before, during, or after a race, and failure to comply can result in disqualification, prize money claw-backs, and even suspension from MyWhoosh.
The testing will focus on the WADA Prohibited List for reference of substances that aren’t allowed, as well as testing methods.
Testing will be done on site, and virtual racers will need to share where they’re planning to race from in the case that they’re selected to be tested.
The anti-doping program is the next step in MyWhoosh’s dedication to upholding a competitive environment with integrity and fairness.
The program will begin on May 10, 2026, though the first round of testing won’t start until May 17, 2026.
Matt Smithson, Director of Esports and Game Operations at MyWhoosh, explained that this anti-doping program comes as more events with prize money are growing on the virtual racing platform.
“The introduction of anti-doping and integrity testing is about protecting fair competition and rider trust. As our Sunday Race Club grows, the standards around fairness must match the seriousness of the event. Our goal is to protect clean riders and ensure that our global community can trust in the integrity of every podium finish.”
This program works in tandem with the software, hardware, and performance verification systems that are already a part of MyWhoosh.
