Today, SCS Software has announced that the upcoming 1.62 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator will expand the Improved Material System to two additional trucks, bringing visual enhancements to their interiors. The Iveco S-Way in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and the All-New Volvo VNL in American Truck Simulator will both benefit from the upgrade when the update arrives.
The Improved Material System is designed to enhance the lighting and overall visual quality of truck interiors, with a particular focus on how different materials respond to light. The changes will make cabin environments more detailed and visually appealing while improving the distinction between materials such as leather, fabric, plastic, and metal, even in low-light conditions.
SCS Software has been gradually rolling out the system to more trucks across both games, and the upcoming update will continue that process. The studio has also thanked players for their feedback, comments, and screenshots shared after previous interior improvements, as it works to bring refreshed visual quality to a wider selection of vehicles.

Players interested in learning more about the development process behind the Improved Material System can also check out SCS Software’s Under the Hood blog, which features insights from team members working on the technology.
The Iceland DLC was revealed a few months ago, and you can enjoy additional screenshots of its churches, the Ring Road, the coastlines, Keflavík, the fjords, Akureyri, and the bridges.
Further national DLCs announced focus on Ireland (we also saw a few screenshots, an iconic road, and Cavan) and Turkey.
The development team is also hard at work updating relevant areas of the map, and the next rework focuses on the UK, including the Stonehenge area, Inverness, and Bristol.
Finally, there’s the Coaches DLC. We recently saw its bus stations, the Scania Touring, passenger satisfaction, the MAN Lion’s Coach, the Volvo 9700 Double Decker, the first gameplay, the new vehicle features, how to purchase coaches and take on jobs, how to switch modes, and tourist jobs.
