Eagle Dynamics revealed details about the upcoming innovations coming to the voice chat features of DCS World, including radio roles.
These radio roles will be available for players to take over, so mission designers can include interactive player communication in their creations.
The system is designed to be flexible, with mission designers able to provide radio roles to air, ground, and naval units, on top of static objects like airfield control towers.
In-game, these radios will appear as selectable slots for players, who will be able to play as AWACS operators, forward observers, or ATC controllers.
Each radio is linked to its units, and that includes line-of-sight, frequency management, and real-time voice processing affecting signal quality exactly as they do in the real world.
If the unit linked to a radio is destroyed, the radio is taken out as well.
Eagle Dynamics is even developing a lightweight client that will let players use these radios without launching the main DCS World client, which will enable LotATC integration.
The feature is currently being tested and more details will be shared as development progresses.
On top of the voice chat update from Eagle Dynamics, Ugra-Media also shared new screenshots and footage of the upcoming Syria Map update, focusing on Israel.

If you’re unfamiliar with DCS World, it’s a free-to-play flight simulator focusing on military aviation from World War 2 to the present day. It’s available exclusively for PC.
While the sim is free-to-play, it pretty much requires paid modules be fully enjoyed, including aircraft, campaigns, and maps. That being said, Eagle Dynamics has a robust free trial program for said modules.
Recently, the MiG-29A Fulcrum has also been released in early access, followed by the C-130J Hercules, while a new map for the Balkans has been announced.
We also just got the “2026 and Beyond” trailer with the reveal of the Rafale by Hearblur, which is also working on an Eurofighter Typhoon.
