Today, EA has unveiled an extensive deep dive into Football Ultimate Team (FUT) for EA Sports FC 27, introducing one of the mode’s biggest overhauls in years.
EA Sports FC 27 adds an all-new Gallery system, streamlines Squad Building Challenges (SBCs), expands Evolutions, introduces offline Live Events, and reworks progression and rewards ahead of the game’s September launch.
FUT Gallery is a new permanent collection system that tracks every Player Item that enters your club. Players acquired from packs, the Transfer Market, SBCs, Objectives, and other rewards can be added to themed Gallery Sets, even after being sold or submitted in SBCs.
Gallery Sets are grouped by categories like leagues, clubs, nations, and campaigns. Completing a Set earns a grade based on the quality of submitted Player Items, with higher-rated and special cards adding more points.
Raising your Set grades boosts your Gallery Level, unlocking cosmetics, Gallery Tokens, Holographic Items, and other rewards during the season. Gallery Tokens introduce a new reward currency that can be spent in the Gallery Token Store on items such as kits, badges, and the new Hall of FUT historical collectibles.

The store will also expand with additional rewards over the course of the season, and it will even add a Gallery Hub for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, which visually displays your favorite collections and featured Player Items, while 3D card displays evolve alongside your club throughout the season. EA Sports FC 27 also introduces holographic Items, which are rare cosmetic variants of eligible special Player Items.
Holo versions feature enhanced visual effects without changing gameplay attributes, but contribute additional points toward Gallery Set scores. Squad Building Challenges are receiving a significant redesign with Streamlined SBCs. Instead of constructing complete squads with chemistry and rating requirements, players will simply submit eligible cards toward a target score.
Progress can now be saved over multiple submissions, duplicate cards can be used, and many Player and Upgrade SBCs will adopt the new format while puzzle-style Challenge SBCs remain unchanged. Evolutions are also being expanded as of EA Sports FC 27.
New Pathways introduce branching upgrade options, giving players more control over how Evolutions progress. Evolution Chain Preview lets you see future upgrade opportunities before making a choice. The PlayStyle Lab returns with more customization and updated balancing.
Single Player Live Events are being added to expand solo content in Football Ultimate Team. These offline challenges include themed AI opponents, custom squad requirements, tournament-style progression, and multiple difficulty levels, offering a new progression path for solo players.
Broad changes are also coming to long-term progression, as campaigns will feature fewer promotional squads throughout the year, attribute increases will be more restrained, and Player Items will receive a maximum of three PlayStyle+ traits instead of five. Special Items will also include Role++ familiarity across their primary and secondary positions to provide greater tactical flexibility.
Rewards are being updated to offer faster progression, as end-of-match rewards will now include FUT Coins and Season Points in select modes, reducing the need to wait for weekly rewards. Tradeable packs and direct Coin rewards will also be more available, and Event Tokens will be expanded into seasonal content.
Additional gameplay improvements include enhanced attacking AI through Attacking Spatial Awareness, expanded creative run mechanics, improved crossing systems, and more tactical flexibility designed to encourage greater squad variety.
EA Sports FC 27 launches on September 18, 2026, with more Deep Dive presentations on gameplay and live service plans ahead of release.
