The second early access content update for Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator is out now, with wildlife playing a bigger role in ranger duties. This update adds new animal species to Faremont National Park, new ways to interact with wildlife, and a variety of new callouts and equipment to use.

Three new animal species are added in this update: bison, feral hogs, and bobcats. While bison and hogs roam about and are easy to spot, the bobcat is much more elusive and can be spotted only by keen-eyed hikers.

The biggest addition is the Animal Interaction System. Players can free animals that have been trapped by poachers, as well as sedate and treat injured wildlife using a tranquilizer gun. Also, a VHF receiver is added, which lets players track down animals that have been fitted with GPS devices. These features make working with the wildlife as a ranger a more hands-on experience.

There is a new root puller tool, which allows players to remove invasive plant species, as well as a new callout in which players can restore certain areas of the park by planting new flora.

This content update also adds visitor-related tasks that require players to maintain rules that keep the park safe and enjoyable. This includes cleaning up messy campsites after documenting them with a camera and finding the culprits, dealing with campers playing loud music, and educating visitors on the dangers of littering.

Besides the new content, the update brings a variety of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. One example is the highly requested small hop ability to make movement feel smoother.

You can watch the release trailer below to see everything added in the update.

Ranger’s Path: National Park Simulator is available now in early access on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. Players who purchase the game in early access will receive all updates free of charge.
