If you’ve ever wondered how well the music of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve would work with real fighter jets, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Bandai Namco just answered that question.
The answer is that it’s just as epic as you may have expected.
The aerospace arm of the Japanese Self-Defense Force officially collaborated with Bandai Namco for a trailer showing off many of its assets, pilots, and crew as they perform their duties.
This is paired with “Everflow” by legendary Ace Combat composer Keiki Kobayashi, which is the main theme music of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve.
We get to see F-35 Lightning IIs, plenty of F-15J Eagles (including the legendary Aggressor squadron from Komatsu Air Base, with its flashy camos, which you can also see in the picture above, taken by yours truly a few weeks ago), F-2 Viper Zeros, the imposing Kawasaki C-2 transports, the Grumman E-2 Hawkeye from the “Bats” of Misawa Air Base, and more.
Of course, we also get to see the crown jewel of the JASDF, the Blue Impulse aerobatic team that draws massive crowds anywhere it flies.
Besides the obvious connection with gaming, I simply couldn’t avoid reporting on this. It’s way too cool!
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
