Today, Laminar Research officially released version 12.4.0 of X-Plane 12, dubbed the “C-Check Update.”
While the update (which has been in beta for a few weeks) introduces a large variety of smaller changes and tweaks to X-Plane 12, there are a few that deserve their own mentions, starting with the introduction of Multi-threaded scenery processing.
This doesn’t mean full multithreading, but multiple CPU cores are now used to prepare the scenery for rendering, which can lead to non-irrelevant performance improvement on certain PC configurations and scenery-intensive situations.
Those who are already GPU-limited or have a weaker CPU will see less of an improvement.
Native Tobii Eye Tracker 5 is also now part of the sim, although only on Windows.
ACARS support via the third MCDU lets you request text-based weather information, ATIS, and pre-departure clearance when on VATSIM or using the sim’s ATC system.
Bilbao Airport (LEBB) has been added as a new custom airport with plenty of details to enjoy, while the Airbus A330-300 and Cirrus SR22 have been extensively updated.
Many other aircraft also indirectly received changes due to the big injection of new features and improvements to the X430/530 and X1000 avionics that they use.
If you want to learn all the ins and outs of the update, there is plenty more, and you can check out the X-Plane 12.4.0 official release notes.
X-Plane 12 is currently available for PC (including Windows, Linux, and MacOS).
