Robinson R22 for MSFS 2024 Gets Development Update

Cowan Simulations released a development update on its Robin R22 helicopter.
“The R22 for MSFS 2024 is coming along nicely! We’re putting a tremendous amount of work into making this a completely new experience, taking full advantage of what MSFS 2024 has to offer.
Ground handling is now fully functional. You can attach the ground handling wheels, lift the helicopter, set it back down, and maneuver it using your joystick/cyclic and pedals or twist stick.
You can also walk behind the helicopter and use your mouse or controller to grab the rear stabilizer and physically push, pull, and steer the aircraft around! This adds a whole new level of interaction to ground operations.
Preflight inspections are getting a major upgrade! The rear compartment now features functional buttons, and interactive components, along with extensive new 3D modeling to make the area much more accurate and authentic.
Both the main and auxiliary fuel caps are fully functional. You can remove each cap and refuel the tanks individually, adding another layer of realism to the preflight experience.
We’ve also completed several new pieces of protective equipment and accessories, which you can see in the screenshots, including the bubble canopy cover, main rotor blade covers, tie-down equipment, and pitot tube cover. These additions bring even more realism to ground operations, aircraft storage, and preflight preparations.
This is much more than a simple MSFS 2024 conversion!
We’re giving the aircraft a complete makeover, including an overhauled flight model using the newer simulation technology, updated systems, improved modeling, additional functionality, and a much more interactive experience.
The aircraft will also be MSFS 2024 mission compatible, taking advantage of the new simulator’s features, capabilities, and improvements wherever possible.
Our goal is to make these helicopters more than just aircraft you jump into and fly. We want you to experience the entire process, from preparing and inspecting the helicopter to ground handling, flying, and securing it afterward.
What’s next for the CowanSim fleet?
The R66 is next, followed by the 500E, and eventually the rest of the CowanSim fleet!
I don’t have a specific release timeline to share just yet, but once the releases begin, I expect things to move along pretty quickly.
Each helicopter will receive a complete MSFS 2024 makeover, with updated flight dynamics, systems, modeling, functionality, mission compatibility, and all the new features we can take advantage of.
There’s still plenty of work ahead, but we’re making great progress, and I’m excited to get these helicopters into your hands!”
