Spellcaster University, the management game where players manage a magic school from Sneaky Yak Studio, is coming to consoles in less than a month, bringing the successful PC game to a new audience.

Spellcaster University is a unique take on a management game — instead of simply making decisions, players are limited to the deck they choose to use when it comes to reacting to the various situations around them.

There are several different decks to pick from, and they include the following types:

  • Arcane: access powerful artifacts
  • Deck of Light: takes care of students and teachers
  • Nature Deck: access magical beasts
  • Alchemy Deck: increases production of potions and mana
  • Shadow Deck: teaches discipline to the worst students

Of course, while the game has plenty of unique elements, there are some things that span the management genre. Players will need to take care of their students and their school.

They’ll also need to select the students who can enroll. There are various features to balance, and players will be able to see how their studies affected them at the end of their time at the university.

Additionally, players can decorate and customize the school itself. Adjusting the rules is also part of the player’s role as headmaster. So is balancing the various outside factions and fighting against the darkness that threatens the university.

Interested players can check out the trailer for the console release below:

Spellcaster University will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on May 2, 2025. This port comes nearly 4 years after Spellcaster University was released on PC via Steam.
