Today, Marvelous Entertainment and Honey Parade Games finally revealed the new Senran Kagura game, Shinobi Nexus Senran Kagura, while also teasing a possible return to consoles of the franchise, or at least its developer.

The game, which was originally teased as “Project N”, is coming in 2026 for PC, iOS, and Android as a free-to-play entry in the beloved franchise.

For now, it has only been announced for Japan, and we get to see its cast designed by the original Senran Kagura character designer Nan Yaegashi.

You can meet the entirely new girls in the trailer below. Despite the new cast, it doesn’t appear that the style has changed, and Senran Kagura fans will feel right at home.

Marvelous has stubbornly refused to revive the dormant original series and bring the beloved Senran Kagura IP back to console, but something may be changing.

Just before the reveal of the official title and trailer of Shinobi Nexus: Senran Kagura, during the presentation of the company’s (fairly lackluster) financial results, CEO Shinichi Terui dropped a small bomb.

Terui-san mentioned that Marvelous intends to further hone the unique strengths of each of its studios and enhance their brand values. The first example he brought up was Senran Kagura’s own Honey Parade Games, with Dolphin Wave performing very strongly and Shinobi Master Senran Kagura: New Link still contributing to earnings via merchandise royalties even after its shutdown.

After mentioning Project N (which was not yet revealed at the time of the conference call), he added that the plan for Honey Parade Games isn’t just to continue with online games like Shinobi Nexus, Dolphin Wave, and New Link, but also to explore a return to the console market in the future.

While Terui-san did not specifically mention that said return would be with Senran Kagura, this is certainly the most promising statement made by the company about the future of the series and its developers in basically forever.

We’ll have to keep a close eye on future announcements from Marvelous and Honey Parade Games, and you can definitely expect us to keep them on our radar. This could mark the beginning of a new hope for the franchise and its fans.
