Good Smile Company announced a new fantasy IP titled IgniSphere, and the first game, that will be titled Dawngazer.
Dawngazer will be a fantasy action JRPG for PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2, planned for a 2028 release window. It’s expected to support English, Japanese, and Chinese (both traditional and simplified) languages.
It’s currently in development by a new team aptly named IgniSphere Studio, led by Takafumi Noma, whom you may know for Unicorn Overlord.
The music is by Yoshimi Kudo, who also worked on Unicorn Overlord, on top of Elden Ring and more.
To celebrate the announcement, a teaser trailer providing a glimpse of the game and its many characters has been shared, and you can watch it below. An official X (formerly Twitter) account has also been launched.
Incidentally, IgniSphere is seen as a larger cross-media IP that will go beyond Dawngazer, including figures and even light novels published by Kadokawa.
Speaking of figures, that’s likely what you may know Good Smile Company for, as it’s its main business. That being said, the Akihabara-based company has been expanding into gaming lately, with projects like the Nekopara mobile game and a Patlabor game that was released on Steam a few days ago.
It’ll be interesting to see how this gaming endeavor will turn out for Good Smile. They certainly have the ptential, and they’re actually not new to the industry. For instance, they worked on the media management of the Muv-Luv franchise before Avex bought the rights to the IP in 2017.
