Today, Sega and Sports Interactive announced a range of new features and updates debuting in Football Manager 27.
As the latest installment in the hit sports-management simulator series, Football Manager 27 is set to introduce a range of User Interface and User Experience improvements to make navigation faster, more intuitive, and more customizable. Sports Interactive says the changes come from internal reviews and community feedback, building on the design language introduced in Football Manager 26 while bringing back familiar navigation behaviors from previous entries.
One of the biggest changes comes to how players navigate the game. In Football Manager 26, tiles served as both information hubs and navigation tools, requiring players to open cards before moving through different areas. Football Manager 27 instead makes tiles primarily informational, while the main navigation is handled through primary and secondary menus at the top of the screen handle main navigation, reducing the clicks needed to reach key areas.
The primary navigation has also been reorganized around six sections: Portal, Squad, Tactics, Recruitment, Training, and Club. Each category is designed to better reflect a manager’s core responsibilities, while secondary navigation has clearer signposting and a return toggle system that lets players move between screens without repeatedly returning to an overview.
Core areas will also feature a new control panel containing important actions for that section. Squad, for example, can provide quick access to team meetings and delegated responsibilities, while Recruitment can offer options such as adjusting the transfer budget or reviewing staff advice. More screens are also being presented as full-screen experiences, reducing the need to repeatedly open and close windows and making the next available action more apparent.
Sports Interactive is also targeting faster overall interaction through under-the-hood performance improvements and reduced input latency. Combined with the revised navigation structure, the changes are designed to make decision-making feel more immediate while giving players quicker access to the information they need.
Messages have also received a substantial overhaul, with different categories now color-coded to provide clearer visual cues. The system also uses available space better and presents more information directly within each message, so players can review a Scout Report without opening another screen.

The new messaging system also aims to reduce duplication. Multiple transfer offers for the same player, for example, can now be grouped into a single message, allowing managers to review the available information and make decisions without working through several separate notifications. Football Manager 27 will also expand the use of tooltips, providing additional context for areas such as staff attributes and player medical reports.
The interface is being designed to adapt more effectively to different displays, whether players use a laptop, an HD monitor, or an ultrawide 4K setup. Tables and lists have been reworked to use available screen space better, displaying more information vertically without unnecessary scrolling while also using horizontal space for additional relevant data.
Players will have additional control over the amount of information displayed through a new scaling mode in the Preferences menu. Default will provide the standard interface size, while Detailed and Condensed options will let players display different levels of information, giving managers more flexibility based on their preferred play style and monitor resolution.
Football Manager 27 is also expands customization with Secondary Navigation Landing Spots, Shortcut Remapping, Bookmarks, and Tile Swapping. Landing Spot settings let players choose where they go when selecting sections from the primary navigation, so they can jump directly to frequently used areas of Squad or Recruitment rather than starting from an overview.
Keyboard shortcuts can once again be remapped, letting players assign commands to suit their preferences. The Bookmark system from Football Manager 26 has also been expanded with text descriptors, rearrangeable bookmark placement, and greater control over the Bookmark Bar, allowing players to organize frequently accessed screens around different stages of a season.
Tile Swapping adds another layer of customization, with certain tiles in the Portal and other areas letting players replace them with different tiles of the same size. This gives managers greater control over the information presented on their screens, while the same system will also be used in the Match Day Interface as part of Sports Interactive’s longer-term plans for screen customization.
Football Manager 27 is scheduled to launch in November 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC (Steam), though Sports Interactive has not yet announced an exact release date.
