Today, Sports Interactive announced that International Management is officially returning to Football Manager 2026 on May 26, 2026, as part of a free update.
The Football Manager 2026 update comes as part of a new multi-year partnership with FIFA, bringing a fully licensed FIFA World Cup 2026 experience across PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Touch versions of the game.
The update brings plenty of new features, including a new dedicated Quick Start mode that lets you jump straight into the international dugout. It starts in-game on May 11, giving you two final warm-up friendlies before the World Cup begins.

Dual Management will also be enabled, letting you manage a club and a national team simultaneously. Starting with the World Cup, the bookmark will simulate your club’s domestic season in the background.
You won’t have to worry about save compatibility either, as the module integrates seamlessly into your existing FM26 club saves, and you can also carry over international saves from FM23 and FM24. For the first time in the franchise’s history, players can even take control of women’s national teams.
From an immersion and visual standpoint, players can also expect official FIFA World Cup 2026 branding, broadcast packages, television-style graphics, and the official Adidas Trionda match ball. At launch, 47 of the 48 qualified World Cup nations will be completely playable.
Match days also feature unique cinematic teamsheets, player entries, and a brand-new trophy lift sequence when your team captures the world title. Due to licensing, the content will actually roll out in two seperate updates.
Phase 1 of this Football Manager 2026 update takes place on May 26, 2026, featuring core International Management feature launches, along with initial tournament formatting and broadcast packages. Some official team kits may arrive later due to ongoing approvals with independent kit manufacturers.
The next phase occurs sometime in June, adds any missing licensed assets, and locks in the official real-world 26-man tournament squads for the competing nations. For more information on this and other football simulators, be sure to check back for updates.
