SCS Software announced a new feature that will come for update 1.52 for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, and it’s a driving academy.
According to the announcement post, the academy will include a series of scenarios with the goal of “teach players a thing or two about driving and maneuvering a truck in a fun and captivating way.”
The feature was inspired by player feedback, as fans mentioned that the games have helped them grasp the basics of truck driving, so SCS software wants to experiment with expanding on these skills.
The academy will go from basic driving to “navigating intricate courses and complex parking maneuvers” and will include detailed explanations with diagrams, pointers, and directions.
The developers are testing the waters with the introduction of the new feature, and if it receives positive feedback it will be expanded with more scenarios and challenges.
The ultimate goal is to “offer a deeper understanding of both truck driving and the underlying systems, as well as when to use them.” Yet SCS cautions that reaching that goal is a long way off.
To accompany the announcement, the developers also released a metric ton of screenshots of the feature, which you can enjoy below.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator are both available exclusively for PC. Both simulators have been updated to version 1.51 recently, with the addition of quite a few features.
American Truck Simulator also just received the Arkansas DLC alongside the much-awaited Mack Pinnacle truck. European Truck Simulator 2 will soon go to Greece.
