Bethesda Softworks has announced the official title of the next Elder Scrolls game. It’s going to be “The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel.”

The title was revealed during the 40th anniversary celebration for the studio, which is now owned by Xbox following a much-debated acquisition a few years ago.

Not much more was revealed, as you can see below, as it’s just a fancy animation, although there certainly are elements that can be considered teases. The most obvious one is the Hammerfell setting, which was already rumored and guessed by many.

Bethesda mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) that it’ll be “some time” before they’re ready to share more, so don’t expect this to represent the proverbial opening of the floodgates.

The company also got a new logo to celebrate the anniversary and shared a video starring Executive Producer Todd Howard reminiscing about the history of the franchise.

You can watch that one below as well.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced all the way back at E3 2018, and we don’t know when it’ll release.

We also don’t know on which platforms we’ll see it, since Xbox is currently reintroducing exclusivity for some of its games, but things appear to be pretty much in the air.

Many of Xbox’s studios have also suffered numerous layoffs, and we don’t know whether and how this will impact the development of The Elder Scrolls 6: Sentinel.

For the moment, all we can do is wait and hope that it’ll live up to the legacy of its predecessors.
