Today, EA Sports showed off an in-depth look at EA Sports FC 27 The Grounds, a brand-new open-world social experience that allows up to 100 players to gather in a shared football playground, exclusively for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
EA Sports FC 27 The Grounds is set to serve as the new home for Clubs, combining social spaces, football activities, progression systems, live events, and customization into one evolving online world. Built around a central social hub known as The Terrace, the new mode connects three districts inspired by football cultures from around the world.
Montclair captures the atmosphere of French urban cage football, Zeiza celebrates Argentina’s Potrero football culture, while the working-class football heritage of the United Kingdom inspires Parkside. Players can freely explore each area, meet friends, participate in activities, browse in-world stores, and jump into matches as the world changes throughout the year with seasonal campaigns and live updates.
Clubs are now fully integrated into The Grounds through the new Clubhouse, where players can immediately access League matches, Playoffs, and 11v11 Drop-In. Club stadiums and entrances will visually reflect each club’s customization and identity. EA is also introducing Club Live Tournaments, offering new competitive events with rotating formats, rewards, and House Rules including Mystery Ball, King of the Hill, No Rules, Headers & Volleys, Survival, and Long Range.
EA Sports FC 27 The Grounds also introduces a wide variety of new activities outside traditional football. Players can compete in Small-sided football across 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and in-world Rush matches. At the same time, the new Kickabouts playlist features football-inspired mini-games such as Bocce Ball, Team Keepaway, The Big Race, Attacking Scenarios, Bucket Ball, Balloon Ball, Goal Control, and Drop Kick Targets. Each activity includes its own unique rules, objectives, and scoring systems designed for both competitive and casual play.
Several well-known football personalities will guide players throughout The Grounds. Alex Hunter returns from The Journey to help players improve through progression challenges, while Kylian Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, and Paulo Dybala each focus on different gameplay styles and activities inspired by their own football backgrounds.

Player progression has also been completely overhauled to help account for some of these changes in EA Sports FC 27. Every Archetype is now unlocked from the start, allowing players to switch builds without restrictions, and individual attributes can now be adjusted without spending Coins or using reset items, making customization much more flexible.
A new long-term progression feature called Masteries rewards players for leveling multiple Archetypes. As players reach milestones, they permanently unlock attribute boosts that apply across every Archetype build. For example, leveling the Finisher Archetype grants permanent increases to Finishing and Composure regardless of which build is currently equipped.
Another major addition is Amps, temporary equipment items that enhance Archetypes with attribute boosts, PlayStyles, PlayStyles+, and Perks. Players can equip up to three Amps at once, consisting of two Standard Amps and one Signature Amp. Amps can be earned through Objectives, Campaigns, Live Events, Season progression, and the in-game Store.
Club progression has also been expanded with new shared objectives. Clubs can now complete long-term milestones, weekly and seasonal challenges, and Elite Division objectives together, earning Coins, Consumables, Amps, and reputation rewards while allowing every member to contribute across multiple game modes.
The Grounds will continue evolving after launch through live-service campaigns that introduce new activities, tournaments, rewards, environmental changes, and in-world events, giving players new reasons to return throughout each season.
Players can further personalize their experience with separate streetwear and stadium outfits, along with emotes, accessories, and cosmetic bundles available through various in-world stores located across The Grounds. Seasonal progression rewards include outfits, accessories, emotes, Amps, Consumables, and Coins, while a Premium Season Pass will offer additional unlockable content.
EA Sports FC 27 launches on September 18, 2026, with more Deep Dive presentations on gameplay and live service plans ahead of release. So far, we’ve already seen plenty of content, including FUT, Career Mode, gameplay changes, and even cover reveals.
