Today, Funcom announced that the survival Conan Exiles is getting a pretty large overhaul, starting with the graphics, but there’s going to be plenty more.
The update has been developed in collaboration with Inflexion Games and will come out on May 5, 2026. It will be available at no additional cost on PC via Steam.
Interestingly, the announcement mentions that there are “currently no plans to bring this upgrade to consoles, Epic Game Store, or the Windows PC Store.” Yet “Funcom and Inflexion are evaluating releasing on those platforms in the future.”
The most visible change is a full overhaul of the graphics, powered by Unreal Engine 5, including Lumen Global Illumination, Nanite Geometry, Virtual Shadow Maps, and improved terrain and vegetation.
Yet there’s more to this enhanced edition than visuals. Another massive change is the ability to travel freely between the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah expansion, which massively increases the explorable area in the same gameplay session.
This is relevant because before this change, players were asked to pick between the two locations, and then they were stuck in it unless they started a new game or joined a new server.
Speaking of the new game, you can now have three save slots for single player, while you’ll also be able to craft and build from a storage container, which is a big quality-of-life improvement.
Lastly, the announcement mentions “Enhanced Endowment Slider.” If you don’t know what it is… Well… use your imagination. Funcom did not mention how it’ll be enhanced.
You can take a look at the changes below.
We also got an infographic showing off what you can expect.

The press release included a comment from Chief Creative Officer Joel Bylos.
“Conan has been the heart of Funcom for nearly two decades, and with the new Enhanced upgrade, Conan Exiles continues to carve its legacy in video games.
We know these upgrades are often sold at a premium or released as a separate, enhanced product, but we wanted to offer this for free to fans past, present, and future, as an anniversary gift and a token of our appreciation for their support. We are so proud of this game and the work our team has put into it over the years, and we want this upgrade to breathe new life and energy into the game for a long time to come.”
We also hear from Aaryn Flynn, CEO of Inflexion Games.
“We’re honored to collaborate with Funcom on upgrading Conan Exiles to Unreal Engine 5. Taking such a beloved game and updating it with new technology, materials and shaders, UI, and a range of quality-of-life (QoL) improvements creates a new foundation for the next decade of adventures for players around the world.”
Incidentally, Flynn’s name may ring a bell, as he used to be BioWare‘s General Manager during its golden age.
