Paradox Interactive and Tantalus Media have announced that Cities: Skylines – Expanded Edition, an updated version of the game specifically optimized for Nintendo Switch 2, will be released on October 28.
The Expanded Edition of the city-building game increases the buildable area from nine to 25 tiles, allowing for even larger cities. It also adds a map editor to customize your own landscapes, precision placement tools such as a distance indicator, environmental controls to set time of day and weather, keyboard and mouse support, and graphic settings allowing the player to choose between 60 FPS performance mode or 30 FPS visual quality mode.
Furthermore, the Expanded Edition includes all 10 DLC expansions and content packs, including After Dark, Snowfall, Green Cities, and Sunset Harbor, meaning players can enjoy everything that has been released in the game up to this point.
Cities: Skylines – Expanded Edition will be priced at $49.99. Players who already own Cities: Skylines on Nintendo Switch can take advantage of a 70% loyalty discount on the Expanded Edition for the first six months, up until April 28, 2027, bringing the cost down to just $14.99.
For players on other platforms, there is also new content headed to Cities: Skylines. On PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, two new Content Creator Packs and a new radio station will be added on October 28. In the Holiday Getaways pack, players can build luxury getaway destinations and vibrant vacation spots. In the Mansions & Manors pack, players can add a new residential zone with “old money” estates and watch their citizens drive a fleet of luxury vehicles. The Blueprint Beats Radio is a 16-track blend of lo-fi hip-hop, jazzy chillhop, and downtempo tracks. All of these Content Creator Packs can be purchased individually for $5.99 each or through the Estates & Escapes Bundle for $12.99.
