The latest post outlines the core simulation mechanics governing its reactive open world, establishing that power in the sandbox operates through personal, decentralized relationships rather than rigid empires.

Chronicles: Medieval gameplay revolves heavily around its Fuedal Power Struggle system in the game’s 14th and 15th-century sandbox. To start, decentralized rule means Kings don’t control kingdoms through a modern bureaucracy.

A ruler’s effective power only stretches as far as their closest vassals are willing to ride for them. Power shifts through the layered mechanics of vertical obligations, personal loyalty, and constant threats of rebellion.

The developer also reinforced its goal of creating a world that breathes independently of the player’s presence. AI will be dynamic, as NPCs will make independent diplomatic and military decisions based on the current state of the world.

Systems will also be interconnected, with Military force, local politics, and economic health dictating the rise and fall of various factions. Rather than following a script, players will also have near-complete autonomy as they navigate shifting power dynamics to carve out their own path from peasant to warlord.

The War aspect of this gameplay breakdown shows how lords protect their status through the tiered battle framework in Chronicles: Medieval. Decisions made on the exploration map determine your starting position during sieges and field battles, yielding unique outcomes and consequences.

Feudal lords can even summon their vassals to field massive armies, ranging from personal duels to large troop commands, to make for some impressive, large-scale conflicts.

Chronicles: Medieval is scheduled for PC in 2026. The sandbox RPG emphasizes historical accuracy, regional autonomy, and complex, AI-driven economic and military systems.
