Today, Frontier Developments showed off the Sumatran orangutan, one of the animals that will be coming to Planet Zoo 2 when it releases later this year. The video is the latest in the Animal Spotlight series the company has been sharing to help promote the game.
The Sumatran orangutan is the “thoughtful wanderer of the jungle” who spends time high up in the trees; the spotlight video emphasizes how this species will need plenty of elevated vantage points to reach in their exhibits. We get a look at how climbing platforms can be built for the animals as an alternative to trees, and this gives them a safe way to climb, walk, and rest above the ground. Like other species, the Sumatran orangutan needs plenty of enrichment, and the video shows their unique ability to use tools and problem solve.
The spotlight explains that wild orangutans typically live alone or in small groups, with the closest bonds being shared between a mother and her young. This is an important fact to keep in mind as players restore their home in wildlife reserves. We learned a lot about wildlife reserves in the game’s last Feature Focus video, which showcased the Sumatran Rainforest wildlife reserve.
