Today, SCS Software released new screenshots and details about the upcoming Iowa map expansion DLC for American Truck Simulator. The new post centers around one of the Hawkeye State’s most prominent and important industries: Ethanol.
Iowa is the largest producer of ethanol in the United States, as they are responsible for producing around 4.5 billion gallons of it each year, which is almost a quarter of the supply produced throughout the entire country. Players will get to explore one of the ethanol plants themselves in American Truck Simulator.
You’ll be responsible for delivering and transporting a wide range of cargo to and from these plants, including Corn, solvents, perfumes, toiletries, disinfectants, preservatives, and polishes. Ethanol is also used in the manufacturing of plastics, rubber, and pharmaceuticals, and is increasingly being used as a biofuel, so your loads will vary considerably.

The American Truck Simulator Iowa DLC will feature three new large ethanol plants: Burlington, Fort Dodge, and Mason City. Each location is recreated with identical buildings, silos and equipment modelled after their real life counterparts and each has its a unique layout and style, ranging from a handful of tanks, pipes, and loading zones.
Depot technology improves alongside the introduction of these plants, as all assets at them are inserted separately. This means that they can adjust their level of detail independently, which helps optimize performance and immersion while at each plant.
American Truck Simulator is available exclusively for PC (Steam) and is the sister game to Euro Truck Simulator 2. The Iowa DLC doesn’t have a release date yet, though SCS Software usually announces it only when it is very close.
