The publisher followed up with a press rease sharing the first details of the game.

We get the confirmation that Ace Combat 8 is dveloped in Unreal engine 5, and it’ll include the added challenge of navigating through inclement weather. The story will be narrated via “thrilling first-person point-of-view cinematics.”

Of course, the campaign mode will take the lion’s share of the game, placing the player in the boots of an ace pilot in the fictional world of Strangereal, which has been the setting for most of the franchise.

This time around, we’ll hail from the federation of Central Usea (FCU), which has been occupied after its navy has been shattered by enemy forces belonging to the Republic of Sotoa.

Sotoa has launchjed a lighting invasion in July 2029, which resulted in the occupation of most of the FCU. After bailing out at sea, we’ll be picked up by the Endurance, an aging carries with decks crowded by refugees.

We’ll take on the name of the legendary ace “Wings of Theve” a name bound to Theve, the capital of Central Usea. While the story of the “Wings of Theve” was a fabrication created to keep morale alive, w e’ll have to bring real hope to the citizens of our lost homeland with the help of three new fighter pilots.

Besides the campaign we learn that multiplatyer will be includes with unannounced modes.

Voice overs will be available in Japanese and English, while subtitles will be in Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, European Spanish, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Neutral Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.
