Today, Gaijin Entertainment shared an early preview of the Australian-built CA-27 Sabre, one of the new pieces of content coming for the next War Thunder: Cavalry update.
The CA-27 is an Australian development of the American F-86 Sabre that incorporates several significant modifications. While retaining the general appearance of the original aircraft, it is powered by the British-built Rolls-Royce Avon turbojet engine instead of the General Electric J47 and replaces the Sabre’s machine guns with two 30 mm ADEN autocannons. The aircraft also carries an expanded selection of external ordnance compared with earlier Sabre variants.
Despite its similar appearance to the F-86, the CA-27 underwent significant redesigns to fit the Avon engine in War Thunder: Cavalry. Engineers reworked the air intake and rear fuselage, and updated the wings to increase fuel capacity and support more external stores.
According to the developers, the aircraft is being modeled from scratch using historical documentation and reference photographs. The preview images represent an early work-in-progress version of the model.
The CA-27 will be added to the British aviation research tree, filling a gap among early jet fighters. With its ADEN cannons, the aircraft is designed to offer improved firepower and strong maneuverability compared to earlier Sabre variants.
A release date for the CA-27 has not been announced, though the team stated that they plan to share more information as the next major update approaches. Specifications, performance, and visuals for the CA-27 are also still in development and may change before launch.
Released last month, the War Thunder: Cavalry update delivers one of the game’s largest content expansions, adding new vehicles, graphical upgrades, and major gameplay improvements. Vehicles span a wide range of ground, air, and naval units, enhancing quality-of-life systems across multiple game modes.
