Today, Gaijin Entertainment announced an upcoming aircraft that will join the lineup of its combat flight simulator Aces of Thunder as DLC.
It may not be the fanciest of World War II warbirds, but it’s certainly one of the most famous: the fearsome dive bomber Junkers Ju 87 “Stuka,” specifically the iconic D-5 variant.
According to the official post, available armament for this well-known and well-feared screamer of the sky includes 50 kg SC50JA bombs, 500 kg armor-piercing PC500, the Flam C 250 and Flam C 500 incendiary bombs, and two configurations with underwing gun pods: two with 20 mm MG 151 cannons (four barrels) or two with 7.92 mm MG 81 machine guns (twelve barrels in total).
Of course, the cockpit has been recreated in full detail, with the ability to interact with the control levers in VR. Full engine controls are included, and you’ll even be able to open and close the water and oil radiator shutters.
Three liveries are coming, including a standard one, a winter camouflage, and the camouflage of Stab III./SG 1 (based in Vitebsk in March 1944). These are unlocked by destroying a certain number of ground vehicles.
Incidentally, it’ll come alongside a new update, and more information about it will be shared at a later time.

Aces of Thunder is available for PC and PS5, with support for PC VR and PlayStation VR 2.
Initially, it was supposed to require VR, but then Gaijin decided to cater to a broader audience and removed the requirement for a VR headset, so you’ll be able to enjoy Aces of Thunder on a traditional flat screen as well.
While it has been developed by Gaijin Entertainment of War Thunder fame, Aces of Thunder is closer to a full-fledged flight simulator.
