Today Orbx released a sizable update for its flight-tracking application Volanta, just in time for the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Coincidentally, the update number 1.10.5 adds icons for many of the new aircraft coming with the new simulator.
It also tweaks the geographic nomenclature to better reflect the real world and brings back hot airports, which lets you see the 10 busiest airports on the network. It certainly may be useful whether you want to find some crowd or empty taxiways.
You can find the full patch notes below, from the official discord.

- The flight list on aircraft pages now features landing rates.

- Added an option in general settings to stop ending flights automatically on engine shutdown. When enabled, you’ll have to end your flights in the app manually.

Fixes
- Fixed translation error when adding a flight to the roster from the schedules page.
- Tooltips over roster flights on the schedules map will now disappear when zoomed out to reduce clutter.
- Fixed Vatsim ATC ground positions not showing on the map correctly with multiple position online at the same airport.
If you’re unfamiliar with Volanta, it’s a flight-tracking application that you can download for free. If you want to unlock more features, you can also opt into a premium subscription payable monthly or yearly.
Just a few days ago, we saw how it unveiled plenty of interesting statistics about the launch of the popular Airbus A380 by FlyByWire.
It’s platform-agnostic, so it’s compatible with major simulators including Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, and Prepar3D, on top of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (even if it’s not publicly out yet). It’s available on PC, iOS, and Android.
Speaking of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (which is coming very soon on November 19), you can enjoy our hands-on preview with plenty of interesting details for your perusal.
